PANGANDARAN INTERNATIONAL KITE FESTIVAL 2016

The clear blue skies over Pangandaran’s charming beaches along the southern coast of West Java will be decorated with dancing kites of various colors, shape, and size from all over the archipelago and beyond when the Pangandaran International Kite Festival 2016 gets underway from 15th to 16th July 2016. This year, the annual festival will be centered at the Ketapang Doyong Field, at the Eastern Beach of Pangandaran by the Indian Ocean, and will feature some of the best traditional and modern kites from Indonesia and other parts of the world.

Aside from participants from across the Indonesian Archipelago, the event will also feature kites brought by kite enthusiasts from many other countries including Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, and Sweden. This year, besides flying the many vibrant colored kites as they glide gracefully across the sky, the festival will also be highlighted with a number of exciting competitions such as a Kite making competition, kite painting, traditional kite flying competition, and a whole lot more. A most exciting highlight this year is the Night Kite event where kites are lit and flown in the night sky, creating quite a surreal spectacle.
